Thanksgiving 2010

This Thanksgiving was a busy one. Jacob got to make deviled eggs, Addison got to try deviled eggs. lol. Jacob loves cooking and baking which has gave me several ideas for Christmas presents. I'll tell you about Eli's Christmas list later. We went to Steve and Robin's for lunch with everyone else in the family minus Traci. :( Addison had her first bite of party potatoes (which she made the funnest face...not good face.) She also had her first bite of chocolate pie and drank out of a sippy cup. Both were a success. Then we rode around for a little bit to get Christmas presents ideas before all the maddness started, took a short nap, then headed out. Addison got to experience her first Black Friday and was excited and awake the entire time. We went and shopped til 5am and she stayed awake all except for when we were in the car. Then she slept from 5 - 8:30 and was back up ready to go again. She'll be perfect for Black Friday shopping when it comes her turn to do shopping. :) This is first year that I've ever got all the kids completely done before December even got here. I had a really hard time with the boys this year tho. They're not really into anything except video games. I asked them to make me a Christmas List and here's what Jacob's said: PSP, Tron figures, wrestling figures, and Transformers. Short list. Now comes Eli's: PSP, bow & arrow, and a small FRIDGE. What kind of 7 year old wants a small fridge?!!! So yeah, they were hard...but done! (And no fridge sorry.)

Sunday night we went to the Fantasy of Trees...just barely. They closed at 6 and we got there a little after 5. So they got their faces painted, paid for a sign that they have to decorate at home, Addison peed in her clothes, and then got a picture with Santa. So when I post the picture, that's why she's in summer clothes. It was what I just happened to have in the diaper bag. Overall it was a good Thanksgiving tho and I'm already ahead for Christmas. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and love you all.

Oh and if you haven't noticed, I don't have many pictures of the boys. I basically had to give them the sob story to get them to take one with Santa and Jacob's always telling me to take pictures of Addison and Eli usually ducks his head when he sees the camera. Addison's just not to the age where she can avoid it yet like the boys. :)

Jacob's birthday week

Jacob turned the big 1-0 this year! He's in double digits now. The Friday after his birthday a bunch of us went to Misaki's to eat. There was Gemma, Chuck, Chad, me, Josh, mom, dad, Amanda, Tia, Morgan, Jacob, Eli, Gabe, Abby, Blake, Ryan, and Addison. We were there a while and Morgan actually asked if we had ever been kicked out of any place. I'm starting to think she was implying we were loud. :) Nothing that we're not used to.

Then last night me, Jacob, and Karen went to Lenoir City to a cake decorating class. Cathy (my coworker) had taken her girls to this class and loved it so we decided to try it out too. When we got there the lady had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made, bagels, and chips & cheese. I had already told her this was for Jacob's birthday and she even had Jacob one of her cookbooks to take home for his birthday. She already had the cakes baked and ready to be decorated by the time we got there. This was basically just to show you how to decorate the cake. She showed us how to make buttercreme icing and fondant. Not sure if you would call that icing or not. Then she showed us some different ways to decorate with the buttercreme and let us do whatever we wanted with the cakes. I loved doing the fondant because it makes the cake look so pretty but it's not my favorite to eat and I will NEVER make fondant. If we make any more cakes with it, we will be buying it instead of making from scratch. Not gonna happen! Jacob stayed awake and alert the whole time. He seemed so into it and was smiling and working so hard. He loved it! He wants to be the next Cake Boss (and if you don't know what that is, it's a show on TLC.) 6 HOURS LATER...we came home. Yeah, it took forever!

On and on Saturday I spent some time in the ER with Addison. She had a fever of 102.6 and has a virus and an ear infection. But she's getting better and fever is gone. Here's some pics of the past week or so and our cake class.

Blowing out his candle. (Yeah it's in a flower pot...Misaki's thing...go figure.)

This was just a random shot of Eli and Addison since I don't have many of them. This was right before we went to the ER.

Jacob and his apron that Karen got him for his birthday.

Mixing the buttercreme icing.

Ready to decorate his cake!

Putting the icing layer on it.

Learning how to use the icing tips.

Rolling out his fondant.

Putting the fondant on.

My cake. :) By the time we actually got to decorate...we were ready to go.

All of our cakes. It's kinda dark tho. :(

Cinderella pageant

Saturday Addison was in the Cinderella pageant. She won Miss Photogenic! She ended up getting a bag with her name embroidered on it, a tiara, a monogrammed bib, wand, and a plaque. She started waving so she would wave at everyone and smile and say dada all day long, the minute we get on stage...she froze. :) She just looked at all the bright lights and everyone in the audience but wouldn't move. Actually none of the babies in her age group would participate or do anything. LOL But all in all she did very good. No crying, no pitching a fit (which there were definately some of those for other little girls while we were there.) This was supposed to be an "all nature" beauty pageant. If this was all natural then I hate to see how a regular beauty pageant is. There were of course bossy little girls, hair spray all over the place, and girls walking around with their noses up in the air. But it was fun! LOL Of course I'm amused by that because I would have killed mom if she ever put me in one of those things when I was little. Josh kept looking at me and saying "really?!?" It was definately not our kinda crowd of people that's for sure. We couldn't get any good pictures while she was on stage because of the lights but here's some I took from my phone before we went on stage and afterwards while we were eating.
I had to put this one in here because it's too cute. This is her watching her morning Mickey Mouse before we headed to the pageant. :)

I look half asleep and told him to not get me in the picture but it's a good one of her 1st dress.

Daddy and Addison. He got to pick this dress out. Of course mine had to be purple. LOL

The girls in white dresses were the past winners. Addison will stop before she gets this age because some of the younger girls were extremely bossy. The olders ones weren't so bad.

Before going on stage

Afterwards in her 2nd outfit eating.

I'll eventually get a picture of the stuff that she won and add it on here. She wouldn't wear the tiara because it was too big and it had clair clips...she has no hair! :)

Halloween!!!

This Halloween was definately a first. Last year Jonathan had the boys so I didn't get to spend Halloween with them and this year I had them PLUS it was Addison's first Halloween. Josh spent the weekend with his kids so I had to tote around 3 kids by myself. One who doesn't even eat candy so could care less about Halloween, one who is ALMOST to the age where he's "too old" and then one whose a baby and can't walk and won't even remember it so this year it was "interesting."

Saturday me, Addison, and Jacob went riding around and ended up in North Carolina. (When we go "riding" we go for it. lol) Jacob loved it and is already ready to go again. His favorite part was pulling over on the side of the interstate to get his picture made with the "Welcome to North Carolina" sign. It was cute. He even pulled out the map to show me on the map where we were.

Sunday I took them to the mall to trick or treat. Not my favorite. Eli's not big on the actual trick or treating part because he doesn't eat candy so he could really care less and finds this boring. He just likes getting the costume and wearing it around the house. Jacob likes it and gets into it as long as he has someone to do it with. Addison sat wide eyed in the stroller in her Minnie Mouse outfit and checked out all the strange looking people. You could tell that she was trying to figure out what was going on. Then we went and met up with Papaw, Blake, and Ryan and trick or treated around the neighborhood. Addison even stayed awake for this too. She smiled and laughed at everyone that stopped to talk to her and then talked ALL NIGHT LONG. She's learned how to say "dada" and make the mmm sounds now. So all in all it was a good decent Halloween.

Minnie Mouse!

Addison and Jacob all smiles. :)

All the kids in their costumes. Superman, Minnie Mouse, and a faceless Transformer (he lost the mask.)

Jacob, Chewey, and Luke Skywalker at the mall.

Jacob and the bad guy from Iron Man 2. This was funny.
