Jacob's birthday week

Jacob turned the big 1-0 this year! He's in double digits now. The Friday after his birthday a bunch of us went to Misaki's to eat. There was Gemma, Chuck, Chad, me, Josh, mom, dad, Amanda, Tia, Morgan, Jacob, Eli, Gabe, Abby, Blake, Ryan, and Addison. We were there a while and Morgan actually asked if we had ever been kicked out of any place. I'm starting to think she was implying we were loud. :) Nothing that we're not used to.

Then last night me, Jacob, and Karen went to Lenoir City to a cake decorating class. Cathy (my coworker) had taken her girls to this class and loved it so we decided to try it out too. When we got there the lady had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made, bagels, and chips & cheese. I had already told her this was for Jacob's birthday and she even had Jacob one of her cookbooks to take home for his birthday. She already had the cakes baked and ready to be decorated by the time we got there. This was basically just to show you how to decorate the cake. She showed us how to make buttercreme icing and fondant. Not sure if you would call that icing or not. Then she showed us some different ways to decorate with the buttercreme and let us do whatever we wanted with the cakes. I loved doing the fondant because it makes the cake look so pretty but it's not my favorite to eat and I will NEVER make fondant. If we make any more cakes with it, we will be buying it instead of making from scratch. Not gonna happen! Jacob stayed awake and alert the whole time. He seemed so into it and was smiling and working so hard. He loved it! He wants to be the next Cake Boss (and if you don't know what that is, it's a show on TLC.) 6 HOURS LATER...we came home. Yeah, it took forever!

On and on Saturday I spent some time in the ER with Addison. She had a fever of 102.6 and has a virus and an ear infection. But she's getting better and fever is gone. Here's some pics of the past week or so and our cake class.

Blowing out his candle. (Yeah it's in a flower pot...Misaki's thing...go figure.)

This was just a random shot of Eli and Addison since I don't have many of them. This was right before we went to the ER.

Jacob and his apron that Karen got him for his birthday.

Mixing the buttercreme icing.

Ready to decorate his cake!

Putting the icing layer on it.

Learning how to use the icing tips.

Rolling out his fondant.

Putting the fondant on.

My cake. :) By the time we actually got to decorate...we were ready to go.

All of our cakes. It's kinda dark tho. :(

Cinderella pageant

Saturday Addison was in the Cinderella pageant. She won Miss Photogenic! She ended up getting a bag with her name embroidered on it, a tiara, a monogrammed bib, wand, and a plaque. She started waving so she would wave at everyone and smile and say dada all day long, the minute we get on stage...she froze. :) She just looked at all the bright lights and everyone in the audience but wouldn't move. Actually none of the babies in her age group would participate or do anything. LOL But all in all she did very good. No crying, no pitching a fit (which there were definately some of those for other little girls while we were there.) This was supposed to be an "all nature" beauty pageant. If this was all natural then I hate to see how a regular beauty pageant is. There were of course bossy little girls, hair spray all over the place, and girls walking around with their noses up in the air. But it was fun! LOL Of course I'm amused by that because I would have killed mom if she ever put me in one of those things when I was little. Josh kept looking at me and saying "really?!?" It was definately not our kinda crowd of people that's for sure. We couldn't get any good pictures while she was on stage because of the lights but here's some I took from my phone before we went on stage and afterwards while we were eating.
I had to put this one in here because it's too cute. This is her watching her morning Mickey Mouse before we headed to the pageant. :)

I look half asleep and told him to not get me in the picture but it's a good one of her 1st dress.

Daddy and Addison. He got to pick this dress out. Of course mine had to be purple. LOL

The girls in white dresses were the past winners. Addison will stop before she gets this age because some of the younger girls were extremely bossy. The olders ones weren't so bad.

Before going on stage

Afterwards in her 2nd outfit eating.

I'll eventually get a picture of the stuff that she won and add it on here. She wouldn't wear the tiara because it was too big and it had clair clips...she has no hair! :)

Halloween!!!

This Halloween was definately a first. Last year Jonathan had the boys so I didn't get to spend Halloween with them and this year I had them PLUS it was Addison's first Halloween. Josh spent the weekend with his kids so I had to tote around 3 kids by myself. One who doesn't even eat candy so could care less about Halloween, one who is ALMOST to the age where he's "too old" and then one whose a baby and can't walk and won't even remember it so this year it was "interesting."

Saturday me, Addison, and Jacob went riding around and ended up in North Carolina. (When we go "riding" we go for it. lol) Jacob loved it and is already ready to go again. His favorite part was pulling over on the side of the interstate to get his picture made with the "Welcome to North Carolina" sign. It was cute. He even pulled out the map to show me on the map where we were.

Sunday I took them to the mall to trick or treat. Not my favorite. Eli's not big on the actual trick or treating part because he doesn't eat candy so he could really care less and finds this boring. He just likes getting the costume and wearing it around the house. Jacob likes it and gets into it as long as he has someone to do it with. Addison sat wide eyed in the stroller in her Minnie Mouse outfit and checked out all the strange looking people. You could tell that she was trying to figure out what was going on. Then we went and met up with Papaw, Blake, and Ryan and trick or treated around the neighborhood. Addison even stayed awake for this too. She smiled and laughed at everyone that stopped to talk to her and then talked ALL NIGHT LONG. She's learned how to say "dada" and make the mmm sounds now. So all in all it was a good decent Halloween.
Addison and Daddy

Minnie Mouse!

Addison and Jacob all smiles. :)

All the kids in their costumes. Superman, Minnie Mouse, and a faceless Transformer (he lost the mask.)

Jacob, Chewey, and Luke Skywalker at the mall.

Jacob and the bad guy from Iron Man 2. This was funny.

Tuckered out after trick or treating

Ears pierced!

This morning started off to a bad start. My car has been acting up for quite a while now. This morning it was dead again when I went out to start it. So one of the guys of course had to come jump my car off...again. Then I go to drop Addison off with Josh and while I'm inside I hear my car making the noise like someone was over starting it. (Like my technical words? lol) So I go outside and it's still making this noise and I cut the car off. Well of course it won't start after that. Then Josh picks his glasses up and realizes the dog had found a new chew toy. Nice! So on our way to take me to work we had to stop by Walmart to get his glasses fixed. While we were there we took Addison to get her ears pierced!!! Of course he made me hold her so she sat there and let the two ladies put marks on her ears no problem. Then she sits in my lap and actually sits there while they're playing with her ears. She's being completely still this whole time. Then the woman tells me to hold her arms down and hold her head back. That's when the crying started. Who wants to be held down anyways?!? But after they finally put her ear rings in she cried for literally a minute and was done. She did so good! Made my day a little better. :) Of course here's the pictures.
She looks so pitiful. :(

Wiping her face on my shirt. :(

Now she's perfect again. No crying. :)

6 month update and boy scouts

Addison turned 6 months old on the 20th. She weighs 14 pounds 7 ounces. She's starting to come along now. She turns over from belly to back and back to belly with no problem. Today was actually the first time that we saw her go back and forth. She likes sitting in her bumbo seating but still isn't getting the hang of sitting up on her own yet. She'll do it for a few seconds and then she'll start smiling and kick herself over. She's holding her own bottle and feeds herself bread or her butter cookies when she can. She definately has no problems getting whatever she wants to her mouth. We will be taking her to get her ears pierced sometime this weekend hopefully. Of course Josh has already told me that I have to hold her during it. :) She's done really good since she had her g-tube removed. We're only having to go to the GI every 3 months now. Her scars are even almost completely gone. You couldn't even tell that 3 months ago she had 3 different surgeries and was failure to thrive and having a hard time. She is short and small for her age but look at her mommy. (I'm definately not the tallest in my family.) :) And of course everyone STILL says she looks just like Josh. I guess Eli's still my only hope. LOL

Jacob and Eli have started Boy Scouts now. This is the first activity really that Eli has participated in. He refuses to do sports or even karate because he doesn't want people looking at him so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will stick with this. He did very good in class with the other boys his age and didn't even look around to make sure I was in the room. (I tried to hide but still kept an eye on him. lol) Jacob of course was "c-ya" and took off as soon as we got there. He has no problems doing things on his own. I took them to Walmart last night to sell popcorn. Jacob of course did fine but I was a little worried about Eli. He had Gabe there so I think that helped. But he did perfect! A guy even came up to him and gave him some change and Eli said "do you not have any dollars?" :) I thought I was going to die laughing. But so far so good!!!

Baby contest and Rockwood Fall Festival

We took the boys and Addison to the Rockwood Fall Festival this weekend. We put Addison in their Prettiest Baby Contest. After we registered her we were getting a little worried because they mentioned something about it being only Roane County residents. I took Addison up there in front of the judges and of course she did perfectly. She was such a ham and kicked and smiled in front of the judges. We stood in line while everyone else was showing off the other babies. They were all really cute and some even had on some of those expensive pageant dresses. But Addison won 1st place!! She got her own little medal that said 1st place and a $25 gift card to Walmart. Then we walked around the festival and let the boys play and paint their own pumpkins. Jacob got a little hot towards the end but they all had a blast. Thank you Karen for telling us about it and going with us. It was so much fun. Here's some pictures of course. :)

Belly time

Addison now weighs 14 pounds 3 ounces. Dr. Ruth said that she's smack dab in the middle of the growth chart now. Yay! She's still a short squirt like her mommy and every time we go somewhere I get "ah what is she 3 months?" Nope 5 months thank you. :) I've been laying her on her belly as much as possible and now she scoots all over the floor and rolls over from her belly to her back. She likes laying on a pillow and playing with her toys in the floor or even watching Mickey's Clubhouse laying on her belly. She's so much happier (not that she wasn't extremely happy before) but she doesn't care to have her belly touched or tickled or even fall asleep on her belly. She's been released from her surgeon (Dr. Fowler - which I will recommend to ANYONE who needs a pediatric surgeon.) I changed Addison's pad on her belly the other day at mom's house. Between Cassie, Daddy, and Joey, I asked Cassie to help me. LOL Joey and Daddy saw her belly once I took the bandage off and they both made a beeline out of the room. So me and Cassie changed her bandage and of course all the boys had to be right there watching and doing the "ooo that's so gross" and "nasty!" Addison just laughed. Here's some recent pictures.

Eli falls asleep like this almost every day after I pick him up after work. I think school and playing at Mamaw's is wearing him out. :)

Almost gone!
